Looks like the server isn’t syncing posts.

Listening to 90s Nu Metal/Hard Rock memory music. It always makes me very introspective.

Trying the new release of WordPress 7 and the Desktop Mode plugin from Automattic. Interesting. Pretty clunky that it iframes in the original UI instead of having it’s own UI but an interesting concept none the less.

I still love WordPress but I’ve been feeling more drawn to ClassicPress and Django of late. Django is hard though because you can’t run it in a traditional hosting environment.

For those not familiar with ClassicPress, it’s a fork of WordPress without the Gutenberg block editing. It’s a smaller, cleaner code base that works just the same as WordPress.

Well, unless you’re using the block editor. Then it doesn’t work the same. It relies on the TinyMCE editing panel of old WordPress from 10 years ago.

I changed the title and description but it wouldn’t push to the server. I had to go into the rendered copy on the server and make the change there.

This app works but I think I may need to revisit it. It could use some love.

Export is broken and the image upload is clunky.

I think I’d also like to create a command line interface for it as well.

I wrote an outline that works online. I wonder if there’s a way to connect the two. Maybe some kind of sync for the outliner.

The freeway is very loud this morning. Lots of traffic.

Because of issues I have using ftp with my hosting provider I’ve added rsync functionality. You now have the option to ftp, sftp, or rsync your static site files to your web host. As always you can use username/password or id_rsa for passwordless connecting.

The Photo Manager has also been moved from the Settings pane to the sidebar as the new Media section.

Working on Mandeep’s site. Let’s hope I don’t break anything irreparably. 😉

Taking forever to download.

Trying to determine if there’s still a bug in the app when it tries to upload the static files to the host. I seem to be getting an rsync error about port 22 but if I click the upload site button it works fine. It’s hard to diagnose because it could be the hosting provider limiting the port.

Well that’s all the bugs fixed for tonight. The next thing to work on will be improving the editor. Currently it’s an HTML editor but I’m thinking now a rich text or markdown would be better.

Well hello there.

Making some changes to the app. Your blog can now be saved to Github where you will be able to import and sync your blog. This is useful if, like me, you work on many different machines.

Honestly thought I was going to lose all my posts. Happy I didn’t.

Just tried to do a site backup and it failed saying the data wasn’t in the correct format. I guess that’s ok because the backup will be in Github. In fact, I can probably remove the backup and import from static files feature now that my data is synced to Github. There was only one other person testing the app and I don’t believe they have used it at all.

Just fixed a bug with the blog upload. Let’s see if it’s fixed.

Well, I’m not seeing an error so looks like we’re good.

Error was still there. Made an update. Hopefully this fixes it.

No wonder why Christmas only comes once a year, Santa spends 3 months doing marketing and then does an around the world trip in 24 hours. It’d take me 9 months to recover from that, too!

Went to Target a couple of days ago and there wasn’t a Salvation Army bell ringer in front.

My dog’s nose tells me that as milk is exposed to air longer and longer the more it smells like cheese.

Turns out the milk was bad.
